All the Little Details

Too Many Pictures

The important part: four new projects have been added to the Portfolio! Long promised, I know, but well worth it, as a real photographer got into each project and brought out a lovely set of pictures. While getting the overall scope, she also documented so many lovely little details that would overwhelm the galleries – but I can’t resist sharing. After all, it’s the little things that you touch every day that really make a place special.

The Little Office/Cottage

Office/Cottage (aka the Fortress of Solitude)

completed 2012

Old North Durham

Designed as the workspace for a computer programmer, this little cottage was designed to coordinate with the original home’s bungalow architecture and sit small on the landscape. Turned so that the porch and workspace hide a large garden storage area at the rear – as well as giving the best light and views to the occupant – we planned this to be a potential studio rental some point in the future. The homeowner wanted an arts & crafts style colonnade from the very first design meeting, so the two half-columns and cabinets provide some hidden storage and define the entry way from the main space. A little kitchenette sits to the other side and leads to the 3/4 bath.
